This book explains this phenomenon to all other Dutch. After an introduction, the book contains chapters on the history of naturism, including in the Netherlands, tips for the budding naturist, and about the nude in culture and the visual arts. The chapter ‘Media, politiek en ethiek’ discusses the taboos around nudity, the shifting standards regarding nudity and the political and social discussions. Finally, a chapter on the future of nude recreation. As interludes, the book includes testimonials from naturists about their motives and experiences. They are very clear about it: being naked in the outdoors gives a sense of freedom, of equality (without clothes there are no social classes) and of connection with nature.
